Accessing your content from Media Centers and smartphones
You can access your files at Furk.net not only by just downloading files but directly from your media center or even a smartphone. Requirements:
- Good Internet connection not less then 2Mps. Most DSL connections in EU and USA are OK. If you live in country lke Thailand or India you maybe not so lucky. All files in different shapes and bitrates. Your experience may vary.
- A modern device. XBMC, BOXEE and alikes are OK. Some cheap old devices may be not. But a 50 HDMI Android stick from ebay is capable of streaming 1080p over WiFi.
XBMC plugin (the only official plugin)
The plugin allows you to stream video files from your XBMC. Works as great as VLC. The plugin has been accepted into the official repository and you can install it just by selecting in the available plugins list.
If for some reason you prefer installing manually:
The plugin is open source, you can get it from its repository.
- download plugin
- select System
- select Add-ons
- select Install from zip file
- browse for downloaded zip file
XBMC running on some Android HDMI stick is not able to stream 1080p, only 720p. If so then you need to tune decoder settings.
Alternative XBMC plugin
XBMC forum thread
According to ps3mediaserver.org there's a plugin/chanel for PS3.
Android app #1
Alpha pre-release version of a dedicated Android app. Download it from Github repository. You must have MX Player (or other streaming player) too. MX Player plays most video files but for non x264 (.mp4 mostly) you need to fine tune encoder settings(device specific).
Android app #2
Another Android app on Google Play. We haven't tested it yet.
Requests for other media centers are welcome. Or you can write a pligin by yourself using our public API. Futhermore if you are capable of creating something useful for the comunity we're happy to give you a lifetime account.
