Accessing your content from Media Centers and smartphones
You can access your files at Furk.net not only by just downloading files but directly from your media center or even a smartphone. Requirements:
A good internet connection not lower than 2Mps. Most DSL connections in the EU and USA are OK. If you live in a country like Thailand or India you might not be so lucky. All files come in different shapes and bitrates and as such your experience may vary.
A modern device. XBMC, BOXEE and alikes are OK. Some cheap old devices may be not. But a 50 HDMI Android stick from ebay is capable of streaming 1080p over WiFi.
The plugin allows you to stream video files from your XBMC. Works as good as VLC. The plugin has been accepted into the official repository and you can install it just by selecting in the available plugins list.
If you prefer installing things manually:
The plugin is open source, you can get it from it's repository.
XBMC running on some Android HDMI sticks is not able to stream 1080p, only 720p. If so then you need to tune the decoder settings.
Alpha pre-release version of a dedicated Android app. Download it from it's Github repository. You must have the MX Player (or other streaming player) too. MX Player plays most video files but for non x264 files (.mp4's mostly) you need to fine tune the encoder settings (device specific).
Android app #3
Another Android app on the Google Play Store. We haven't tested it yet.
Open API
Requests for other media centers are welcome. Or you can write a plugin by yourself using our public API. Futhermore if you are capable of creating something useful for the comunity we are happy to give you a lifetime account.
